As a valued supporter to the Dutchess Community College Foundation, I want to take his moment to thank you for your support for our students when they need it most.
I want to share a student's story that highlights the critical importance of continued support from you and like-minded individuals.
Abby was working as a paramedic to earn the money she needed to attend Dutchess Community College, but his past fall, her world came crashing down when she received a medical diagnosis that would change her life forever and impacted her employment.
"I was diagnosed with epilepsy in October 2022 and have been having complications since, resulting in complete disruption of my everyday life," Abby says. "Prior to this, I had no issues with school, but this diagnosis has taken a toll."
Abby's determination to continue her education is inspiring. She has been working hard to adjust her lifestyle and medications to manage
her condition, but the financial burden of tuition was becoming increasingly challenging for her. Despite her best efforts, she was unable to keep up financially and fears that she will have to drop out of school.
Unfortunately, as you know, Abby's story is just one of many that we encounter at DCC, but your gift will help provide relief to students who are facing financial hardships, medical issues, and other obstacles that threaten to derail their education.
