Jeffrey Pells Memorial
Paramedic Scholarship
Jeff wanted to be a firefighter since he was a little boy. He spent years as a volunteer fireman with Arlington Fire Department before being hired by the district on July 25, 1983.
At Arlington, Jeff was promoted to Lieutenant in 1988. In 1997, he completed his Paramedic certificate, finishing first in his class. Serving as a Lieutenant for 10 years, he was then promoted to Deputy Chief in 1998. For 7 years while he was Deputy Chief for Arlington, Jeff also worked for Alamo Ambulance as a paramedic. A restructuring of ranks by the district eliminated the Deputy Chief title and he was Captain in 2011. He retired as a Captain in September of 2017.
Jeff was awarded a Unit Citation for his actions in the line of duty, five different times.
The Jeffrey Pells Memorial Paramedic Scholarship is being created to honor Jeff's love of being a firefighter and paramedic. It is available to any DCC student pursuing a career in the paramedic program at Dutchess Community College.
