DCC Athletic Teams

The DCC Athletics Department is committed to assisting student-athletes with maintaining a high grade point average while preparing for future endeavors.  Students who participate in intercollegiate athletics develop interpersonal skills and physical capabilities while learning the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. Student-athletes serve as representatives and ambassadors of DCC while traveling across the country participating in interscholastic athletics.

Here is what one alumnus said when asked, "Why are athletics important in college and what does it mean to be a part of a team?"

"I think athletics in college plays an important role at any division whether it's D1, D2, D3 or Junior College. A lot of student athletes only continue on with their education because of sports and the requirements to maintain a certain GPA and attain 12 passing credits in order to compete. It also gives people an opportunity to showcase their talents at a higher level if things did not go as planned in high school. To be a part of a team is a great opportunity that some people take for granted because it is not something everyone gets to do. You wake up and go to practice 5-7 days a week with the same people, countless hours of blood, sweat, and tears making yourself and those around you better; growing day by day to be the best you can. You help each other on and off court. It's a brotherhood like no other and no matter what differences arise you know at the end of the day that everyone has the same goal...to win. It's something special that goes by faster than you think especially at the junior college level." Isaiah Kostyal- Class of 2020 Men's Basketball
